Looking inside North Korea, one second at a time. For decades, the country has been the least illuminated of mysteries, the rare insights often stranded without context. As one of the few Western journalists who has traveled widely there, @dguttenfelder believes that photography can open a window. Recently, he spent six days there on #nytassignment. As with any of his more than 40 previous trips there, he found time to document daily moments. “There are connections to be made, there are universal things to discover in a photo,” said @dugttenfelder, who shoots for @ナショナルジオグラフィック and curates @everydaydprk. “Regular life shouldn’t be surprising. It not should not be surprising there is real life and people try to get by.
