A couple in the subway in Manhattan. For more than 20 years, the street photographer David Battel has stalked Manhattan with a Leica in tow. His photos, shot in black and white, capture solemn men and women who seem to have been transported from an era long gone. (He took this photo in 2012.) What grabs his attention amid the bustle? Anything, really. “When I see it,” he said, “I just know.” His photos are showing through July 10 at @rwfa_nyc.
