Hey, it's Ashlyn Mae again! Thank you all so much for voting me to the next round ?
I just had my ballet exams, which was like a performance and audition in one class!
I got to the studio about 2 hours early to stretch, go over all the combinations and warm myself up. To get myself into the right mindset, I listened to my favorite playlist (which includes Darwin Deez, Zaz, Fiona Apple...etc) and I also texted my mom, aka my best friend ❤️ I like to chat with everyone a little bit to get some of my nervous energy out, but I really just focus on the work I'll be doing.
When I first step onto the stage, or start a combination in an audition/exam, I'm always anxious about how it's going to go. Will I finish that turn, or hold that balance? Will my technique support me in the way I need it to? But your best performances are almost always the ones when you forget about all of that, trust yourself with the work you've put in, and just dance. That's my main goal every time I step onto the stage. If you're enjoying every moment and letting yourself go, the audience will feel it. And hopefully they'll be moved ❤️
