As soon as I saw the Villarica #Volcano I knew I wanted to try and capture some startrails above it. It is such a perfectly shaped volcano, and if the night was clear enough I knew it could be a pretty cool photo. I found this beach called Playa Blanco, which was a great place to setup and shoot at night (except for the dogs that were running around eating trash out of the garbage bins in the black of night, which freaked me out every time I heard it). I brought a few beers with me, setup the tripod and intervalometer, and let the camera do its work while sipping a beer and gazing at the stars. It's a lot of fun to go back later and put the photos together to see the final result (this image is a composite of about 120 photos shot over an hour and a half).
