You’re looking at some guy’s manhood. Biologist Diane Kelly was studying how guys get it up when she made a weird discovery: Penis anatomy is similar to the anatomy of earthworms. Inner spongy tissue fills with liquid, in this case blood, and is surrounded by tissue rich in stiff, structural protein. That tissue forms a cross helical skeleton, with fibers arranged at right angles (shown above), and that’s how guys...well, let’s just say, that’s how they pitch a tent.
