Sunday afternoon in Sydney and my pub explorations brought me to The Hero of Waterloo, one of several Sydney pubs with a fair claim to be the oldest. Best part was the discovery that music on Sunday afternoons comes from The Old Time Band featuring Valda Marshall on cornet. She has been playing here for 32 years. What a delight! The pub was built with convict labor who carved their initials in the sandstone. And their is a resident ghost, the wife of an early publican who fell (or was pushed?) down the stairs.
