While it may not have the world's most exciting waves, Cocoa Beach claims 11-time world champion surfer Kelly Slater as a hometown hero, and the world's largest surf shop, the iconic Ron Jon's, as a local landmark. And if you are a longboarder, or a beginner wanting to learn how to surf, the waves at Cocoa are just about perfect. Consistently clean in the mornings, averaging about waist-high, and plenty of beach for everyone to spread out. Here, a local longboarder shows off a little style at a morning session on the south side of Cocoa Beach Pier. If you're a beginner, find a nice spot down the beach to practice your stand-ups and leave the pier to the locals. Or just hang out and watch. It's a great show.
