Last night, the Lam Ann Associations held their 12th international gathering in Singapore. It was also the 88th Anniversary of the Singapore association.

Lam Ann is a county in Fujian province, near Xiamen. During the Tang and Sung dynasties, it was the starting point of the maritime silk route.

Many Hokkiens who came to Singapore were originally from Lam Ann. They include war hero Lim Bo Seng, philanthropist Lee Kong Chian and artist Tan Swie Hian.
