More than 78, 000 residents are still in the status of refugees, and dream that they return to their homes of origin someday. But those homes are now located in Israel. It would be extremely difficult for them to return. All around the world refugees and displaced persons should have the right to return to their homes and villages of origin after the cessation of hostilities, as the UN General Assembly reaffirms the principle. However it is not the binding international law.
