Today I experienced both very sad and miracle moments nearly simultaneously. This small boy is 3 year old Palestinian Sharef Waef Al-Namla whose leg was amputated due to the Israeli drone attack during the summer’s 50 day war. The man who holds the boy is his uncle. Yet, I wanted to photograph this small amputee with his father who was also amputated - when he was attacked, he hugged his son. However to photograph the father and the son was impossible, because the son had war-trauma, and he didn’t accept that he was hugged by his father, as well as by mother. If the father tries (indeed he did), the son becomes panic. So, instead of the father, uncle held the boy (They said that only the uncle was accepted by the boy). Later I tried one more photo session of the boy in another room where his amputated mother stayed. At the beginning he enormously cried. But suddenly he accepted his father hugged him. They said it was really first time for such a hugging, since their war tragedy in the summer. I didn’t shoot by iPhone ( the battery became dead), yet instead, I shot by a SLR camera.
