For the past year or so I have been so fascinated with adopting a holistic lifestyle. Taking a holistic approach to your health and fitness journey entails assessing your whole mind, body, and emotions when treating a specific condition or working towards a goal. Because the body is made up of interconnected and interdependent parts, treating the body as a whole is essential to achieve and maintain optimal balance and wellness. One of the simplest and most common ways to practice a holistic lifestyle is through what we eat. It's amazing how many natural and readily available herbs, spices, and oils we all have in our kitchens and pantries that hold the potential of treating so many common ailments that plague people all over the world.  One of the easiest spices to incorporate into your daily diets is cinnamon. Cinnamon has an array of health benefits, some of which include: ➕Antioxidant: Cinnamon contains the second highest levels of antioxidants in the spices family. ➕Blood sugar control: When taken regularly, cinnamon has been shown to decrease the rate at which the stomach empties, thus lowering the typical post-meal blood sugar spike. **Cinnamon has also been shown to increase cell's ability to respond to insulin in pre-diabetics and type 2 diabetics. ➕Anti inflammatory: Cinnamon has been shown to prevent the release a key inflammatory fatty acid within the body called arachidonic acid. ➕Anti fungal: The Yeast infection causing fungus Candidna has a difficult time thriving in a cinnamon dense environment ➕Antibacterial: when cinnamon is added to food, it acts as a natural preservative ➕Improves metal function and clarity Sprinkle some cinnamon on your oatmeal or yogurt, stir some into your coffee or tea, or even throw it in your protein shakes.
