Saw this cool terrestrial laser scanner during my visit to the Earth Observatory of Singapore today.
This scanner scans the terrain in front of it. It fires lots of laser beams to measure distances, and can produce a 3D topographic image from this data.
Years ago I used to be in charge of a survey platoon in the SAF. We had just progressed to using lasers to measure distances, but nothing as sophisticated as this! - LHL (MCI Photo by Kenji)
