A lot can change in 2 years... 🥹❤️ Alf has grown up, Ada has come into our world, and maybe less noticeable but I've also grown and evolved in every sense. 🦋✨ Sometimes I like to go into my camera roll and see what I was doing on this exact day 1 year ago, 2 years ago, 3 years ago etc It makes me realise how quickly things change, for good and bad. But also, it makes me realise how quickly we change, grow, evolve, move on. We can sometimes get quite caught up in expectations and timelines. Let's take turning 30 as an example. For some reason we really feel like we should have all of our sh*t together and boxes ticked by 30. We can feel like we're running out of time. Which is crazy when you consider the average life expectancy for a woman in the UK is 84. I was single, didn't want kids, I didn't own a house, I didn't feel like I'd hit the ceiling of my career. But that pressure is there. An outdated pressure based on the fact a woman's value was tied to her fertility or attractiveness to a man. Dumb sayings about being left on the shelf floating in our minds. A time when life expectancy was lower. But when we think how much life changes year to year. When we look back at how much has changed in 5 years. Why do we think we have to speed up the next 5? Also it ties into the idea that timelines are a linear race. But people break up and divorce. And so they should. Anyway, my point is, when you feel stuck. Or lost. Or your worrying about something - ask yourself if you'll be worrying about it next year or the year after. Maybe take a photo today and then set a reminder for a year's time to see where you're at. It also motivates me to be brave to take the first step on whatever it is I've been putting off. Because by next year I won't be a beginner anymore and I'll thank myself for doing it today. I wonder what this transition will look like in another 2 years. 🤸‍♀️💫」9月28日 17時11分
