Montauk’s mystery, and its famous residents, have captivated tabloid readers, daydreamers, and superfans for decades. But what lies beyond the surface?

Photographer @ブルース・ウェーバー first visited the destination in the early ‘70s, and fell almost immediately for the getaway frequented by creatives like Peter Beard, Paul Morrissey, Rachel Feinstein, John Currin, and China Machado. Over the years, he has chronicled the run-ins, romances, secrets, and adventures of artistic royalty, capturing everyday moments as regularly as glamorous ones.

For our second Hamptons issue of the summer, CULTURED Editor-in-Chief @sarahgharrelson asked Weber to dig through his archive to share snapshots of his Montauk and speak about the mythical encounters that make it.
