We often don’t think about it, but frogs like these Costa Rican lemur leaf frogs play a crucial role in helping us to measure the health of the environment. They are extremely sensitive to changes in temperature and moisture, so when we see declines in their populations it tells us that, despite living on Earth for millions of years, they are struggling to handle the stress climate change has put on their immune systems and their ability to reproduce. The sooner we can reduce carbon pollution, the greater chance we have at slowing climate change and saving thousands of species, including ourselves. Take action by making changes to how you commute. Instead of driving solo in your car, try carpooling to places like school or work. Better yet, ditch your car and challenge yourself to try a different transportation option at least once a week - walking, biking, roller skating, or using public transport are all great alternatives!
