Yet from the moment you get pregnant, the "just you waits" rear their heads. They wait for you to be excited, and they shoot it down with a "just you wait". They wait for you to struggle, and they double down on a "ha! You think this is hard, just you wait...". And it doesn't stop. Wait until the baby's here. Wait until they're toddlers. Wait until you have more than one.. It's never done out of genuine care or concern either is it. You can spot those people. It's done to rob you of your moment of joy. Or to make you feel like you know nothing of struggle yet. When I was in the darkest place ever in the post lockdown / Postnatal blur of sleep deprivation, I remember coming on here and opening up about how much I was struggling. I remember the just you waits started to gaggle. "Hah! If you think this is hard, try having two! Wait until they're a toddler." Those comments nearly ended me. I really really needed to know things would get better. For someone to hold my hand and say it's ok. You'll get through this. They will start to sleep. And you need to know about matrasense. Your head will clear. I needed hope. The light at the end of the tunnel. Again, in my pregnancy when Alf was waking at 3am and I was sick and it started. They came again. "Just you wait until you have two..." And I just want to say. It did get better. I love having two. I'm acutely aware there will be challenges. But when we experience joy, be happy for us. And when we experience despair, be there to say: "just you wait until it gets better. Because it does. Sure, there are always challenges, but you will find yourself again. And every day your babies will bring you more and more joy. Wait until they start to play. Wait until you catch up on sleep. Wait until they talk. Wait until their face lights up when you walk in a room." Just you wait mama. There is so much to look forward to. And for now. I'm here. I understand. You'll be ok. ❤️」6月2日 5時04分
