Making its auction debut at #SothebysNewYork’s Modern Evening Auction, Gustav Klimt’s ‘Insel im Attersee’ is one of the rarest landscapes by the artist ever to be offered at auction, and the only one of this subject remaining in private hands.

Klimt’s masterpiece sold for a staggering $53.2 million, bringing the total for the night—including The Mo Ostin Colllection Evening Auction—to $427 million, the third highest total for one night in Sotheby’s history.
