So good to see Bongani feeling better. We’ve got him on a new course of meds for the inflammation and pain he’s got due to the degenerative condition he has. He’s over 18, which is getting on in years for a lion. All we can really do at this age is manage the symptoms and make sure he’s as happy as can be. Getting old sucks and seeing these lions that were once so agile and elastic, become stiff and sore is horrible to witness. What’s incredible about lions is they just seem to get on with it. Many times I’ve seen them hide their symptoms right up to the point where they collapse from being too weak. You have to watch them like a hawk and pick up on the subtleties so you can intervene before things get bad.
