For some people it’s hard to believe that you can have a trusting relationship with a lion. There’s a sense that a lion should behave in a certain way, just like a shark or a crocodile should behave in a certain manner. I’ve spent well over 2 decades trying to show my audience a different side to these incredible animals. Today I met some lovely people from Poland who work very closely with horses and we talked at length about animal behaviour and the similarities, yes similarities, between lions and horses. We also talked about how there are many horses being abused by people around the world, just as there are lions and how crazy it is that people can’t seem to discern the difference. People see folks interacting with horses and assume it must be fine. There is this black or white approach to interspecies interactions. It’s either wrong or right and there’s no ground in between or at least the ability to make an informed assessment. It seems this isn’t the only polarized topic flying around on social media these days, but then ironically I think it’s ‘social’ media causing much of this. #asocialmedia #socialnotsocialmedia #opinions #polarised #interspeciesfriendship #horses #lions #lionesses
