This stunning bird is a crested coua. A member of the cuckoo family, it is found only along the coastal regions of the island of Madagascar. While this bird is capable of flight, it is not a strong flier and will usually opt to travel by hopping from branch to branch. For others, this form of navigation may seem slow, but the coua is actually quite quick and agile thanks to its long tail providing balance, and a reversible toe making it easy to grasp onto branches as it moves throughout the canopy.
