As the boat billed heron’s big eyes might suggest, this species is most active at night and at twilight. Under the cover of darkness, these birds will move slowly and quietly, usually in a crouched posture, in search of food. Once prey has been located, the heron will use its bill to stab and lunge at its target. Their large bills are also sometimes used for probing and ploughing in an attempt to uncover hidden food sources. Video taken @zoopraha.
