This lappet-faced vulture chick was just six days old when I had the opportunity to film it @zooatl. It may not look impressive now, but when fully grown this vulture will be a skilled scavenger. Thanks to an incredibly strong beak, it will easily strip a carcass of skin, tendons, and ligaments that are too tough for smaller scavengers to remove. In fact, an adult lappet-faced vulture can strip a small antelope carcass down to the bone in under 20 minutes!
