Right now, you’re face to face with the last Yaqui catfish in captivity - a representative of its species, which is endangered in the wild. This fish is now restricted to just three small populations in Arizona and Mexico. Ground water pumping for agriculture caused much of its remaining habitat to dry up, a fate that could endanger many other native freshwater fish if we’re not careful.
