I’d never been a fan of art classes at school and because I was terrible at drawing, I assumed it wasn’t for me. At the time I would probably have said I didn’t have the time, but really I didn’t make an effort to find the time. There were always more pressing and more important things to do. But then, when I took a break and stopped working as a model, as I was looking for how to occupy my days, I wanted to start exploring this creativity I had always had inside but never allowed to let out. I started writing and taking pictures while traveling, I joined acting classes, I taught myself how to play guitar and went to singing classes. Although it felt great to allow creation and inspiration to flow through me, I also realized how vulnerable it made me to share what I was creating. How easy it was to get into my head, listen to the fear of making mistakes and of others judging me. Even to this day it still happens when I take on something new, or when I get into a new creative project, but I now know it’s not about the end product, and it’s not about people liking it or not. It’s about getting into the flow of creation, when you stop identifying with your thoughts, with who you are and with your environment. It’s about being fully present. It’s about connecting to that field of infinite possibilities. It’s about connecting to the energy of Life and of Nature. Today, even though sometimes I don’t create as much as I wish, it is such an essential part of my life. Because if experience has taught me something, it is how important it is for my mental well being, my balance but also my energy. And you, when was the last time you took the time to create ?
