I moved cities and changed jobs. It helped to come back to the warmth of the prairies and feels like a homecoming. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ Indigenous art is at the forefront of Canadian art globally. At the Remai Modern there are so many possibilities to showcase Indigenous artists and Saskatoon’s art scene is so vibrant. Along with this role and my board role at the Indigenous Curatorial Collective, I am helping to build a healthy and sustainable ecosystem for Indigenous artists to celebrate and show their work. ⁠⠀ ⁠⠀ When visitors come back, I am excited for them to experience how Indigenous art and culture is also contemporary—how the past is informing the future—and soon we will be able to bring in Indigenous artists from around the country and the world.
