Always on alert, the yellow-spotted rock hyrax emits a high pitched, piercing call to notify members of its group of the presence of a predator or a potentially dangerous situation. While this species doesn’t look particularly tough, it will fiercely fight off any predator that launches an attack, doing whatever it can to ensure its survival. Thankfully, in many cases, excellent eyesight and hearing combined with foot pads designed to allow the hyrax to grip onto and climb rocky surfaces, equip this species with the ability to detect predators and vacate the area before being captured.
