A blue-toned bullfrog? Yep, you’re not seeing things. This one is rare as can be, but alive and well at the Schramm Education Center in Nebraska. They knew they had something special so he’s on display for all to see. So why is he showcasing blue patches? Well, he's axanthic, which means his body has trouble producing a yellow pigment. Researchers aren’t quite sure what causes axanthism, but it has been noted that it appears to happen most frequently in amphibians found in the northern regions of North America.
