When I shifted to the mountains, I would always sit by my window on cloudy winter mornings and wait for it to snow, sometimes it snowed, sometimes it didn’t, but when it did, I would feel it was the most beautiful thing, and truth be told, it is.

But during first few winters, snow was just something beautiful for me, something that made my winters better until one day I sat down to learn that it was beautiful in many more ways.

Do you know, snow doesn’t just look good it also creates frozen water reservoirs in the mountains, and then these reservoirs melt during the summer season to fill up our rivers, which in turn provide drinking water to people living here, water for their farms and to also generate electricity for your houses.

Now what if it doesn’t snow for a while, or we have a winter with less snow, it’ll affect everyone, and more so, the people living in mountains.

And this winter, we are having one such dry spell, which can affect us in summers.

So here’s hoping it snows soon, for its not just beautiful but also important for our survival.
