There hasn’t been enough snowfall, the mountains are barren, we are sweating during the day, at places you don’t even need to wear a jacket during the day, and one could easily sit in the balcony, while staring at the mountains shining in the sun, without any snow on them. What does this mean? More powercuts in summers, water shortage, farmers will get affected, higher regions that depend on melting snow for water will suffer, no ice bridges for shepherds making it difficult for them to take their herds to higher regions for better pastures, it’ll result in heavier than usual rainfalls eventually leading to landslides, because when the weather patterns change, something or the other has to give way. Unfortunately, all snowladen pictures and reels you guys are watching, are from small spells of snow that happened in December, but that’s all gone due to warm winters, and it’s extremely concerning. I hope snow arrives sooner than later, because as we know, February and March snowfalls don’t stick for long and melt real fast. It’s December and January snow spells that are required for these mountain ecosystems to function properly. And now all we can do is talk about it, create awareness, conserve water/electricity because come summers we might not have enough of it in the mountains.」1月13日 0時11分
