Many are pinning their hopes on welcoming in the new year and forgetting the pain and suffering of the past 365 days; as if waking up on January 1st will bring about a whole new world for us all. Whilst I’m a very positive and optimistic person I’m also realistic and my personal opinion is there must be a further several months of struggle before we try to come out of this approaching the autumn of 2021. We shouldn’t be in a hurry to run away from Covid, bury our head in the sand or try to slam the door behind us without dealing with the problem first - every obstacle in life we must complete and overcome before we move on to the next, certainly not hide it away to mount us and become more difficult and overwhelming. We must recover through understanding, learn our lessons and CHANGE our ways in order to be granted the freedom we so ignorantly took for granted before this pandemic. We must learn to rebuild our lives to achieve growth rather than expect it all to be handed to us on a plate. We must nurture relationships and true friendships, showing those around us how much we really love and appreciate them for being there when the chips are down - half attempts and a lack of effort simply won’t work anymore. We have to be stronger, smarter, kinder and more selfless to survive; it won’t come easy, it won’t be fast, disposable or convenient like the old way that we lived and that’s why it cannot ever happen overnight - it is about consistency and dedication now. But it will be worth it and I promise it is the change that we all so desperately needed, even if you don’t realise it right now - isolation has removed the rot from our lives and rid us of toxic people and unnecessary possessions by allowing ones true colours to shine.
