Big Snow: Daisetsuzan, the largest of Japan's national parks, translates to "big snow mountain", and snowfalls of over 20 inches in a week are par for the winter's course here in the northern part of Hokkaido. Dubbed "the playground of the gods" and worshiped as a holy place by Japan's indigenous people, the Ainu, Daisetsuzan is a pristine winter wonderland from October to June. Mt.
