Would you like to try fishing with a DIY bamboo fishing pole??🎣😲

This week I took a trip to Soma City to try out fishing with a bamboo fishing pole.

It was such a unique and fun experience learning how to fish in Soma, from making our own fishing poles to catching a variety of sea animals!🥰

Everyone was given a stalk of bamboo, from there, we sawed off the branches to make a long fishing pole.　We were shown how to tie the fishing line to the end of the pole, and how to attach the weight and a hook. Then we were ready to fish!🎋🔜🎣

During the peak fishing season, Mid October to Early November you can catch a fish every five minutes or so. Apparently anyone can catch a fish here. Unfortunately, it's already December so we were a bit late for the fish. But our group still managed to catch a few!🐟✨

Remember all of those branches and leaves that were removed? Well don't worry, they didn't go to waste! The branches and leaves were tied together and sunk in the water to create a cozy little environment where various creatures could hide. We put a net underneath this little environment and then pulled them up together, shaking the branches a bit so that some of the creatures who were hiding would fall out into the net.🦐🦀🐟

On shore we inspected the creatures that we managed to pull from the sea and put them in some water. I couldn't believe how much we caught. Shrimp, crabs, fish, and even a couple of SEAHORSES!! We also caught a couple of pipefishes, a relative of the seahorse. They were all so cute.🥰💕

After taking some photos we returned all of the animals to the sea. 💕

The shrimp and the fish, however, went to the dinner plate.😋🦐🐟💕
