Believed to ward off evil, the temple has been respected by locals for over 800 years. 👹
Long ago, a monk named Emyoudounin was led into the forest by an antelope. There he discovered this sacred spot. Here, he drew the kanji-character for nine, a sacred number in far eastern sect of Buddhism, and lit an eternal flame that burns to this day. Known as the “immortal torch” it has been tended to by people here since some time in the Heian period (794 A.D.~1185 A.D.). 🔥
Isn't it lovely in the snow?? ⛄️❄️🥰
So, would YOU like to visit this temple? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! 😄
