Photo by @daisygilardini / This mother and her one-year-old cubs roam on dry land in northern Manitoba’s Wapusk National Park, waiting for Hudson Bay to freeze over before heading out to hunt seals on the pack ice. Each year in October and November, this area sees some of the largest congregations of polar bears in the world. Mothers with cubs have to be prudent, as a big male would kill the cubs so the female would be able to mate again.
