Photo by @joshuacogan / Trying to catch sunrise at Great Sand Dunes National Park can be a challenge. Getting up onto the dunes themselves is no easy task, as every step equals two on a normal ascent because the sand gives no solid surface. On this frosty early morning, I was rewarded with a few nice surprises: the cresting sun on the snowcapped peaks in the background and the frost-covered dunes in the foreground creating beautiful glistening reflections.
