This magnificent, rare jewelled gold and enamel snuff box was crafted circa 1755 by goldsmith Daniel Baudesson - one of the most talented Berlin bijoutiers of the 18th century from whom Frederick the Great, the King of Prussia, commissioned numerous pieces over the course of his reign.

There are currently fewer than ten gold boxes with the marks or signature of Baudesson known, with many in the possession of important museum collections such as the Musée du Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum.

It will be offered at auction for the first time, with an estimate of £200,000-400,000, as part of our Treasures auction in London on 10 December.
