More often than not we see ourselves, and therefore value ourselves, judged purely on the opinions of others. How many times have you been on a first date and being showered with compliments, attention and affection? Yet a month, six months or even a year into the relationship the very same things that you were praised for now go unnoticed, or worse yet, even criticised - however you’re exactly the same and nothing about you has changed just somebody else’s opinion! For this reason we often feel unattractive, unloved and rejected in relationships, yet to others who see us for the very first time we are still this beautiful, magical ethereal creature that they would do absolutely anything to capture - hence why many relationships breakdown after the honeymoon period and infidelity is rife. Because of how a partner, friends, colleagues or even strangers react to us we see ourselves differently to who and what we truly are and this has to stop. At the start of the year I came out of an emotionless and deprived longterm relationship and had the absolute summer of my life (despite 2020) because what one person fails to cherish about you others will absolutely adore. So please do not allow anybody the power to ever dictate your value; we are all precious, priceless and beautiful individuals who should celebrate everything that makes us who we are.
