Photo by @juancristobalcobo / An ancient Colombian legend tells the story of two immortal beings, a man named Tena and a woman named Fura, who were created by the Muisca god Ares in order to populate the Earth. Ares gave the couple only one rule to maintain their eternal youth: They had to remain faithful to each other. However, Fura did not remain faithful. Their immortality was taken away and they soon died. Ares took pity on the couple and turned them into two mountains, where Fura’s tears of remorse became emeralds. Today the Fura and Tena mountains rise above the Minero River and are considered the official guardians of Muzo, the well-known Colombian emerald zone. #muzo #emeralds #juancristobalcobo
