Grey gloomy days require a pop of color...and a kiss

While usually optimistic there are some days all of what’s happening right now just gets me down. I find that what lifts me up is to keep working on my work, this public work and the work I do privately. I like this photo because it looks like someone ready to work and confident about what they do.

Creating content, working with brands and writing are what I choose to do here in the space that manifests my public life. This is where I can express a different aspect of myself, a creative part. It’s why I started this in the first place. Here I can both aspire and inspire. Nonetheless it is work and requires thought, time and attention.

My activism, consulting, mentoring and justice work are what I do in my private life. After briefly trying my hand at it here, I’d rather do this work collaboratively with others, in the real, not virtual world where I can actually see and feel the impact of the work we do. An Instagram story slips away in 24 hours, the relationships I continue to build in my private work last for years and are making tangible, measurable change.

Having two very different and seemingly oppositional jobs is not unusual for someone like me, it’s always been my nature. Both are aspects of who I am and expresses that I’m not an either/or kind of person.
