Though this time around, I revel. It’s breaking the seed-shell of what no longer fits; a sprout can now grow into a new form. The weight of what’s no longer mine to carry falls off; branches may now rest and breathe. There is a mess of dead leaves all around me. The mess is the compost to nourish the new, a pile of wonder that the childlike heart can leap into. I will not rake these leaves. . Shifting and shaping. I’m on new ground in old familiar spaces. To change and own it without explanation. To simply put on one’s shoes and walk. My passions and hobbies and even this space here are shifting and shaping right with me too. Dusty old tools take a higher reverence and I’m no longer interested in keeping up with the next best thing. Tried and true grow with me. I’ll share what holds. I’ll share what’s true. For me anyhow. . What buys your time? Does it feed? Does it nourish? Does it matter? And for what? These are questions I ask myself quite often nowadays. . Piles all around me, mostly dead leaves that have had their heyday. Yet none of it a waste. Compost, piles for play, a crunchy palette to grow from. I don’t look backwards wondering why or for what - it all brought me here. I wholeheartedly thank it for what it grew. Now I look forward, step by step, with questions, with pauses, with changes and room to renew. . . . . .
