I shall save the bulk for a journal, ever faithful companion and listener that it is. I am protective of quiet spaces. The lines have been so blurred with the invention of cell phones, a contraption of both wondrous opportunity and incessant interruption, to which I fluctuate between loathe and like with. Back in the age of landline phones, if one was busy or out of the home, it was accepted that one was unavailable for the day. This present digital era garnishes an immediacy and entitlement that feels much like a hamster wheel at times. And yet our moments are too finite for hamster wheels, especially ones that do not yield food on the table nor bear any mark or imprint on the soul other than where did all the time go. Again I fluctuate between its gift and distraction. For now my balance in the scales are weekends entirely unplugged and giving myself permission throughout the week to limit its pull, two minor adjustments but with tremendous results; I feel refreshed and inspired, ready for what the week holds, ready to take the magic of moments lived of a few old fashioned days and pour it into the 9-5 rhythms of the week.
