Do you know how the Florida fighting conch got its name? While most sea snails withdraw into their shell when a predator is near, this species will make dramatic movements in order to escape a dangerous situation. It is one of the few conchs that jumps around, using its foot to thrust itself upwards which allows it to roll over, creating distance between itself and the potential threat.
