Never venturing far from home, the desert cottontail rabbit may be easy for predators to locate, but that doesn’t mean it is easy to catch. As expert escape artists, these bunnies will run in a zigzag pattern, reaching speeds of up to twenty miles per hour to avoid being captured. In the event that running fails and the rabbit becomes cornered, it will kick at small predators with its powerful hind legs creating another opportunity for escape.
