Nearby at the 5th Street Gym, a relatively unknown 22-year-old Cassius Clay was training for his fight against the ‘unbeatable’ Sonny Liston. It was arranged for the band to call in to watch the training session during a break, although they had originally wanted to meet the favourite, Liston. To the surprise of many, Clay won the fight against his hotly tipped opponent.
