Photo by Matt Borowick @mborowick / If you happen to be traveling through southern Colorado and are looking for an adventure, I would highly recommend the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve just outside of Hooper. Not only is it remarkable to see the dunes themselves, but they are actually the tallest sand dunes in North America, with the highest peak around 755 feet (230 meters) tall. Due to the extremely remote location of the park, an incredible amount of stars are visible even on a moonlit night.
