Grace Bonneyさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Grace BonneyInstagram)「Good morning! It’s my (@nogophoto) last day here. My favorite thing about public art is access. Not everyone feels comfortable going into a museum or gallery but anyone can walk by art on the street. As some cities begin to reopen cultural institutions on a limited basis, I wonder/worry about who is going to have access. Who will have the resources, WiFi, money to get tickets, to access the didactic materials that help fulfill the experience? There were already issues surrounding who these spaces are made for and my pessimistic side sees those issues increasing with the new visiting experience. Also on the note of access, but from my hopeful side, I hope the light shone on accountability and representation will result in a true, radical change in the arts field. Like all other professional fields, there is a bit of a reckoning in this world right now. There is a lack of diversity in the staff, leadership, and boards of cultural institutions, and the effects of that ripple into decisions that have big impacts - not to mention the impact this has on those of us who are the “diversity” of these institutions. ALL cultural organizations have a lot of work to do, and that being said, @publicartfund is no exception. I am heartened that we (and others) are finally putting actions behind words with goals and benchmarks, and I look forward to seeing what comes of all of this. I am still not sure of what the answers are, but the first steps are being taken, and just as importantly, they are being watched. I wish for a field where everyone feels welcomed, seen, and heard, and in order for this to come to fruition, institutions need to be willing to put in the work. This paragraph is only the tip of the iceberg. A real reimaging of the field involves racial, educational, climatic, and economic justice for all. Are we finally at a moment when we’re ready to address this and follow through?」9月13日 22時06分 - designsponge
