Hi, @nogophoto here again! I’m also happy to be here sharing other recent public art that has moved me. Pictured here in Brooklyn, NY, is @xavierasimmons piece was originally displayed in South Dakota as a part of @ForFreedoms' 2018 50 States Initiative campaign. Xaviera is also a Public Art Fund artist and we were lucky to have her on the 3rd episode of our @publicartfund podcast, #PublicArtWorks, along with artist Kate Gilmore and filmmaker, activist, and author @paolamendoza. As I look at this work, I think of something Xaviera said during that recording, “And I'm really excited for the idea where I can make work for a public larger than even what is my conceived, or perceived community.” In turn, I am excited at the prospect that people are seeing this, doing a double take, and hopefully thinking about it.
*@ForFreedoms is an artist-led organization co-founded by Public Art Fund artist, board member, and friend @hankwillisthomas. They always have something interesting up their sleeves and are a great IG follow!
