Photo by @chien_chi_chang Daughter of an immigrant working in New York City. For my Chinatown project, I started visiting the family members of New York immigrants back in their hometown, in rural Fuzhou, China, in 2007. To contrast the bleak, black-and-white–and almost monotonous–lives of the immigrant men in the U.S., I chose to photograph their families in China in color. Living lives devoid of husbands, fathers, or brothers, uncertain of their future, women resign themselves to waiting, the unpredictability of a reunion tearing at the fabric of both the family and their community. #MagnumPhotos
