This picture wasn't taken from a ✈️ or 🚁. Planes move too fast and helicopters make too much downdraft to capture a stunning image like this. That's why, during a trip to Africa, nature photographer George Steinmetz began taking photos from a motorized paraglider — or as he calls it, "a flying lawn chair." With just 10 liters of fuel, he could fly for two hours with an unobstructed view of the beautiful landscapes below. For this photo, locals in Niger mixed salty mud with fresh spring water and filled evaporated ponds to create a spectacle of color. To see more of Steinmetz's stunning aerial photos, and learn how they reveal the diversity of African cultures and environments, go to the link in our bio.
