A little bit like my last tip on pitching vs chipping and when to use them, a similar principle relates to bunker play.
If you want to spin a bunker shot, assuming you have a decent lie & good fundamentals, you’re still going to need speed to create the spin - so even on a short bunker shot where you don’t have a lot of green to work with, it’s easy to make a slow swing because of the shortness of the shot when in essence it’s on these shots that you need even more speed to create that spin - as I said it takes good fundamentals and more importantly a lot of faith to pull it off but speed always = spin in the bunker......OBVIOUSLY🤣🤣🤣 On the flip side if you have more room to work with then a slower swing will impart less spin and let the ball roll out towards the hole. It’s not so much a chunk and run as you are still using the bounce effectively but the slower the swing the more the ball will roll out once it hits the green.
